Darth Vader left a substantial first impression on me when I saw him for the first time as a youngster. He wore all black, had a towering presence, and commanded respect, even from those that seemingly hated him, such as Princess Leia. As I learned more about this character, I realized I had a lot in common with him. The entire reason Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader is that he let his emotions control him. Just about all the bad decisions I’ve ever made in my life have come as a result of my feelings getting the better of me at a given moment. And, even as a 38-year-old man, I still let my anger get the best of me from time to time, so I can completely relate. So the reason I love Darth Vader the most is that he taught me if I don’t positively express my emotions before it’s too late, I’ll inevitably succumb to my dark inner side and make a terrible decision. Thank you, Darth Vader.
