Once again, Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is having another great weekend. Today, I wanted to talk a little bit about our decision to self publish on Amazon.
I don’t necessarily think self publishing is any easier than the traditional method. Sure, you skip all of the rejection aspect of publishing, but you also run the risk of your manuscript not being as polished. There’s obviously pros and cons for both routes, but I believe the pros for self publishing outweigh the cons.
The thing I like about self publishing is that it is completely within your control. You get to set the design of the cover, and you get to control the content of the work. No one is telling you what you can and can’t do, and it’s incredibly liberating to have that freedom.
I used to think that writers have to be paid money in order to be considered good at writing. But that’s not how I feel any more. I like telling stories, and I like that they reach readers. Self publishing hasn’t given me millions of dollars or even a book on the best sellers list. What it has done, though, is given me the ability to share my stories with others. And that’s what it all about. From the creative process with my wife all the way up to us designing the cover, I love every second of it and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Anyway, I guess I’m rambling. Thanks for reading the post this week, and just know that I am going to be offering all three of my books free on the Amazon Kindle starting today and running til Wednesday. If you have the app, feel free to give them a read and leave a review. If not, that’s cool too. Keep reading, and I’ll talk you guys next week.
