It’s another Wednesday, and in an effort to take people’s mind off of the growing affliction in our country, I wanted to recap a few moves I saw from NFL Free Agency so far. I won’t get to all the moves, but just a few that caught my eye.
First, DeAndre Hopkins having a new home baffles me. He’s one of the best wide receivers in the game, and Arizona is instantly better because of it. He has game breaking ability, and I think he helps Larry Fitzgerald have a resurgence this year. The Cards should be better, which is more than I can say about Houston. I can’t find a way where this move makes them better, but maybe I’m wrong. I just know I wouldn’t have done it.
On the other side, I think Stefon Diggs to Buffalo is a good move for both teams. Diggs was always going to struggle for the kind of production he wanted in Mike Zimmer’s preferred offense. Buffalo gave up a lot, but they provided Josh Allen with a number one receiver. I think both teams get better from this.
Of course, the elephant in the room is Tom Brady heading to Tampa Bay. I don’t see this ending well. Brady declined last year, and I think that continues this year. He may start off good because he’s surrounded by good talent, but I think the Buc’s will find themselves in need of a new QB by the end of the year.
I also don’t know how to feel about Phillip Rivers heading to Indianapolis. He’s an upgrade over Brissett for now, but he’s a temporary fix at best. Still, he should be okay as long as he doesn’t have to carry the Colts. He’s not that guy anymore.
Well, I hope I brought you some entertainment to distract you from the ongoing problems of the world. I’ll continue writing about my sports observations in the future. Thanks for reading and see you next week.
