Hello everyone and happy Saturday. As always, I hope you guys are safe and healthy reading this post. What’s this post about? Progress. Specifically, progress as it relates to my current writing project.
I’m kind of sad to admit that things didn’t quite go as planned with the current project. I had hoped to be done with the first draft by the end of this month, but that probably won’t happen. A litany of factors has contributed, and the adjustments I, like many people, have been forced to make have compromised the project.
I am not writing a thousand words per day, which was always my goal. Sometimes I write a little bit, and sometimes a lot. Some days, occasionally, I don’t write at all. It’s amazing how much time you have until you don’t have it anymore. I would always get the bulk of my writing done waiting for the kids to be done with school. My kids have school at home now, so I’m usually relegated to doing it whenever I get a free moment. On top of working forty hours a week, it’s asking a lot for a thousand words a day.
Not that I’m complaining. I’m blessed with the family I have, and blessed to be able to continue writing, no matter how little it might be. So even though my next project isn’t going quite as planned, I’m working to get there with it. I still find the story interesting, and I can’t wait to uncover more about it. On top of that, we’re readying our next novel for release. It’s about a small town with a dark secret, which sounds pretty generic. I think we gave the old story a pretty good twist though, and I can’t wait to share it.
I guess what I’m saying is just because it’s not going the way I wanted doesn’t mean it’s going bad. It’s just taking a little longer to get there. Fortunately, I am a patient man. I’m also thinking of sharing some short stories with you guys, but that will be for another week. As for now, please stay healthy and safe, and keep reading. I’ll talk to you all later.
