Hello everyone. I hope you are all safe and staying healthy. You know, I write that every week and it seems to need to be more and more true. Things are, for lack of a better description, crazy right now. I use this blog to write and sometimes post my feelings on certain issues, and I will do so now.
We need to stop. We need to stop living in division. We need to stop living in denial. We need to stop acting like everyone must have the same opinion. We need to stop hating people because they are different. We need to stop acting like it doesn’t matter. We need to stop.
This isn’t a race thing. It isn’t a religious thing. It’s not an American or foreign thing. This isn’t an us versus them thing. This isn’t a political thing.
This is me pleading with you to be a decent human being. To treat others how you want to be treated. To want a better world for your children than what we currently have. This is me begging you to stop the hate and embrace that we all have differences. But just because we are different doesn’t mean that we can’t respect each other.
The worst part about this post is the fact that we have made all of this true. It is a race thing. It is a political thing. It is an American thing. It’s painted as us versus them. And why? Why must we identify everyone by the extremes? Why must all Islamic people be terrorists? Why must all white people be bigots? Why must all black people be criminals? Why must all Mexicans be illegal immigrants? The answer is simply that they are not. I know that, and hopefully you do too. But until other people see it, nothing will change. That’s horrible.
That’s what I think anyway. I hope you continue to stay healthy and safe. Those aren’t just words. I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. Maybe it will give new perspective and maybe I’m just hoping, but we cannot allow this to continue if we want a better world. Keep reading, and I’ll talk to you all next week.
