Saturday Hobbies

Hello everyone and welcome to another Saturday. Hopefully you are all doing well and making it through this crazy time. I do that by staying grounded, and the easiest way to stay grounded is by having hobbies.

I have a few different ones, obviously. Writing would be my first one. I can write at any time even if it’s just a short blurb. It helps clear my mind, and that helps me to focus on the things that are important. So when I really need to unwind, I usually write a little bit. Sometimes it’s even the posts on this blog.

Another hobby is video games. Yes, I am a victim of my generation. But it’s nice to be able to escape to different worlds at times. It’s not quite as fulfilling as writing is, but it is engaging. And, I must say, it can be quite easy to get lost in those worlds. Especially when the games are fun. Currently, I’m on Dark Souls 3. If you haven’t checked it out, give it a try.

But my most important hobby is spending time with my children. Maybe that’s not even a hobby, but it’s the most worthwhile thing I can do. Whether I’m playing basketball with them or going on a bike ride, I can’t think of a better way to spend a few hours than with them.

But I get that these hobbies aren’t for everyone. That’s what I’m trying to say though. We need to find the things that can keep us grounded to keep us sane. Until next week, stay safe, healthy, and keep reading.

  1. Dad’s bonding with kids differ in so many ways but it always end up being more fun than bonding with mom. That’s something we’ve long accepted 😀

Video gaming is my family’s hobby as well. My husband and my son would get so rowdy at home because my son is well, 7 years old and does not know how to accept losing 😀 They would love for me to join all the time, playing mini games and sometimes, Smash on Switch or my favorite PS3 game, Pocket Fighter and they would trip on my being a spammer. We haven’t let go of our PS3 because of that particular game (my husband knew that I used to play that a lot in arcades when I was young).

They’re now crazy over Animal Crossing and my son’s obsession over Fortnite!

    1. I can agree with that. My wife suspects it’s because I’m closer to them maturity wise than she is. Haha. And my kids are also not very good at losing. But yes. It’s certainly something I treasure.
