If 1992 gave fans a glimpse of hope, 1993 proved those hopes to be true. For the first time in what felt like forever, it was exciting to be a Packers fan. They’d gotten the free agent signing of the year, and possibly all time, and constructed a team that was even better than the year before.
Green Bay finished the year with a 9-7 record, posting back to back winning seasons for the first time since the Lombardi era. The record was good enough to earn them a wildcard spot, and they defeated the Detroit Lions before losing to the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round. Sterling Sharpe continued being one of the best receiving threats in the game, and Reggie White had a monster year to help lead Green Bay to the postseason. Brett Favre’s regression was a bit concerning, but the young quarterback proved he could win some games. Other young talent also began to flourish, with LeRoy Butler becoming a bit time playmaker and Robert Brooks doing a fantastic job in the return game.
This year was great for all the right reasons. A young team growing together with a young coach. The season may not have ended with a championship, but the seeds were now growing for a team that would win one. The sky definitely felt like the limit.
This will be the last Pack Recap until after the current season is over. Instead, we will focus on the current Packers and their own quest for glory. The Pack Recap will return during the offseason, with us shifting gears to the 1994 squad. Until then, thank you for reading and we’ll continue bringing you the Packers content. Go Pack Go!!!
